Researchers Demonstrate Kilometer-Scale Terahertz Wireless Communication Beyond 300 GHz
Tags Infrastructure ยท Hardware

Researchers achieved a record-breaking 2.2 km terahertz wireless link at 335 GHz, demonstrating a net data rate of 27.84 Gbit/s and an unprecedented rate-distance product of 61,248 Gbit/s*m. The team built a traveling wave tube amplifier with 3.82 W output power and over 50 dB gain at 335 GHz, combined with a hybrid photonic-electronic approach and spatial diversity reception that improved SNR by ~3 dB.
