MediaTek Launches Genio Pro 5100: 3nm Chip with 50 TOPS NPU for Physical AI Robotics
Tags AI ยท Infrastructure ยท Enterprise

MediaTek launched the Genio Pro 5100, a 3nm chip designed for physical AI applications in robotics and drones. It features an 8th generation NPU delivering over 50 TOPS of generative AI acceleration, supports up to 23 tokens/second for 7B parameter LLMs, handles up to 16 camera inputs for sensor fusion, and operates across an industrial temperature range of -40ยฐC to +105ยฐC. The platform includes a 10-year guaranteed supply commitment and supports ROS 2, PyTorch, ONNX Runtime, and TensorFlow Lite.
Technical significance
The Genio Pro 5100 is one of the first chips explicitly designed for physical AI at the edge. The 23 tokens/sec for 7B models and 16-camera support enable real-time multimodal reasoning in robotics form factors. MediaTek's 10-year supply commitment and industrial temperature range signal a serious push into automotive and robotics markets traditionally dominated by Nvidia, Qualcomm, and Renesas.
