Best Buy announced that CEO Corie Barry will step down on October 31, 2026, after seven years as CEO and 27 years at the company. Jason Bonfig, currently Chief Customer, Product and Fulfillment Officer, will become the sixth CEO in Best Buy's 60-year history effective November 1. Barry, the first woman CEO and second-longest tenured in Best Buy history, guided the company through pandemic demand swings and expansions into furniture and health care. Bonfig, who joined as an inventory analyst in 1999, led the creation of Best Buy's U.S. online marketplace and scaled its Best Buy Ads retail media network, which doubled its partner count in the most recent year. Barry will remain as a strategic advisor for six months. The board conducted an extensive process considering both internal and external candidates.
