Cowboy Space Corporation (formerly Aetherflux), founded by Robinhood co-founder Baiju Bhatt, raised $275M in Series B funding at a $2B post-money valuation led by Index Ventures. The company is building vertically integrated orbital data centers and purpose-built rockets, with each rocket upper stage becoming a 1-megawatt data center in orbit with approximately 800 NVIDIA Space-1 Vera Rubin GPU modules. The first satellite launch is planned for late 2026 to demonstrate space-to-Earth power beaming.
Technical significance
Orbital data centers represent a radical solution to the AI compute bottleneck — power availability and cooling are the primary constraints on terrestrial data center expansion. Space-based solar power provides essentially unlimited energy, and the vacuum of space provides natural cooling. If Cowboy Space can demonstrate reliable power beaming and GPU operation in orbit, it could unlock a new class of AI compute infrastructure.
