Pentagon Signs Classified AI Deals with 8 Companies, Excludes Anthropic Over Safety Dispute

The Pentagon signed classified AI contracts with SpaceX, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, AWS, Oracle, and Reflection AI while explicitly excluding Anthropic, which was designated a 'supply chain risk' after refusing terms permitting Claude's use for autonomous weapons and mass surveillance. The US Court of Appeals for D.C. Circuit denied Anthropic's emergency request to pause the designation. Anthropic's annualized revenue reached $44B in early May, up from $30B weeks prior.
