Meta Launches Incognito Chat with End-to-End Encrypted, Zero-Log AI Conversations
Tags AI · Consumer

Meta launched Incognito Chat with Meta AI on WhatsApp and the Meta AI app, featuring end-to-end encrypted conversations where no one — not even Meta — can read the messages. Conversations disappear by default and are not used to train Meta's AI models. The feature is built on WhatsApp's Private Processing technology with inference done in a Trusted Execution Environment. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg called it the first major AI product with no log of conversations stored on servers. The launch comes as OpenAI faces lawsuits over stored chat logs and follows Google's Gemini temporary chats (72-hour retention) and Anthropic's Claude incognito (30-day minimum retention).
