Ouster Unveils Rev8 Color Lidar Designed to Replace Cameras in Autonomous Systems

Ouster announced Rev8, a color lidar sensor that combines depth perception and color image capture in a single device. CEO Angus Pacala called it the 'holy grail' of sensor design for autonomous vehicles and robotics. Using digital lidar architecture with single photon avalanche diode (SPAD) detectors, and developed with input from Fujifilm and DXOMARK, the sensor is designed to simplify perception architectures and shrink hardware footprints in autonomous systems.
