French Nylon-Recycling Startup Syntetica Raises $30M Series A Led by Bpifrance

Syntetica, a French startup developing chemical recycling for Nylon 6 and Nylon 6,6, closed a $30M Series A led by Bpifrance's Ecotechnologies 2 fund (France 2030 plan) with EQT Ventures, SWEN Capital Partners, and family offices. Strategic investors include Lululemon, Victoria's Secret, Etam, and Michelin. The company produces recycled nylon pellets for textile supply chains, targeting hundreds of tons annually from a demonstration facility at Michelin's Clermont-Ferrand site. CEO Marco Bertone emphasizes cost parity with virgin nylon โ no 'green premium.'
Technical significance
Chemical recycling of mixed nylon streams (6 and 6,6) without sorting is a technical differentiator โ most competitors target single polymers. The pellet output model (not finished textiles) positions Syntetica as a supply-chain enabler rather than a brand. Public funding via France 2030 and EIC backing signals strategic importance for European industrial sovereignty. Lululemon's repeat investment (also in Epoch Biodesign, Samsara Eco) shows apparel brands securing upstream recycling capacity.
