Google is rolling out a comprehensive redesign of the Gemini app featuring a pill-shaped prompt box, pulsating gradient backgrounds, and a unified tools section combining Deep Research, Canvas, image generation, video creation, and music tools. On iOS, the redesign heavily leverages Apple's Liquid Glass aesthetic. The model picker moved to a top-left dropdown, and the account switcher relocated to the bottom navigation drawer. The redesign first appeared on macOS and is now popping up on iOS via limited rollout as of May 3-4, 2026. The update follows Google's broader Gemini 3.1 lineup launch, which includes Ultra with a 2-million token multimodal context window and Flash-Lite for cost-efficient workloads.
