SGS, the testing, inspection and certification company, completed the acquisition of a majority stake in Prescient Security, a US-based information compliance and cybersecurity provider with more than 350 employees and 5,000 customers worldwide. Prescient provides penetration testing, compliance certification and AI-assisted security models supporting standards including SOC 2, ISO, PCI DSS, HITRUST, FedRAMP and CMMC. SGS is targeting at least CHF 200 million in additional Digital Trust revenue by 2027 compared with 2023. CEO Géraldine Picaud called the deal a key milestone in the company's Digital Trust strategy.
Technical significance
A traditional testing and certification incumbent buying into offensive security and compliance reflects how audit, pentest and regulatory-readiness work are converging as enterprises face overlapping frameworks such as SOC 2, FedRAMP and CMMC. The deal gives SGS a US footprint of 350 practitioners and 5,000 customers, supporting its CHF 200M Digital Trust revenue target. For buyers, consolidation may simplify vendor management but could also reduce the independence between certification bodies and the firms that test against their standards.
