Google I/O 2026 confirmed for May 19-20 with heavy AI focus, expected Gemini 4 preview

Google announced that I/O 2026 will be held May 19-20 at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California, with a dominant focus on AI. Expected announcements include a Gemini 4.0 preview (rumored 84.6% on ARC-AGI2, 2M+ token context, sub-300ms latency), Android 17, Android XR, and a possible new 'Aluminum OS' unifying Android and Chrome. Sessions include 'What's new in Google AI,' 'What's new in Android,' 'What's new in Chrome,' and Gemma open model updates. Agentic AI is expected to be a major theme. Satya Nadella is not attending (this is Google's event). The event will be livestreamed on Google's I/O website and YouTube.
