Quantum Motion raises $160M Series C to commercialize silicon-based quantum computing

UK-based Quantum Motion raised $160 million in a Series C round co-led by DCVC and Kembara (EU-backed deep tech fund's first major investment) to commercialize its silicon transistor-based quantum computing approach. Founded in 2017 as a spinout from UCL and University of Oxford, the company uses standard silicon chip technology for quantum computing, claiming 100x cost/space reduction and 1,000x energy reduction versus alternatives. The British Business Bank invested £40 million. Quantum Motion delivered the world's first commercial deployment of a full-stack silicon CMOS quantum computer at the UK National Quantum Computing Centre in 2025 and advanced to Stage B of DARPA's Quantum Benchmarking Initiative.
