Pentagon Signs Seven Tech Giants for Classified AI Deployment, Excludes Anthropic
Tags AI · Enterprise

The Pentagon has reached agreements with seven major tech firms—SpaceX, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, Amazon Web Services, Oracle, and Reflection—to integrate AI across classified military networks. Anthropic was notably excluded after the Trump administration barred the company from participating. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has refused to allow Claude to be used for mass surveillance or lethal autonomous weapons. The White House restarted negotiations after Anthropic revealed technical advancements including its Mythos vulnerability research tool. A California federal judge previously halted the government's attempt to designate Anthropic as a "supply chain risk." The GenAI.mil platform already has 1.3 million DOD users.
