China Unveils World's First Dual-Core Quantum Computer Hanyuan-2
Tags Infrastructure · Enterprise
China has built the world's first dual-core quantum computer called Hanyuan-2, developed by CAS Cold Atom Technology, a firm affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and based in Wuhan. Unlike superconducting quantum computers that require near-absolute-zero temperatures, Hanyuan-2 uses neutral atom technology which consumes less energy and is easier to maintain. The twin cores support parallel computing and can divide tasks or correct each other's errors. The system represents a different technical approach to scaling quantum computing that avoids the extreme cryogenic requirements of competing architectures. The achievement was reported by state-owned Science and Technology Daily and confirmed by the South China Morning Post.
