Google Launches Gmail AI Inbox and Gemini File Generation for Word, PDF, and Excel

Google introduced two significant product updates on May 9, 2026. First, a new AI Inbox in Gmail's bottom navigation bar on Android and iOS replaces message-first organization with a task-first approach, featuring suggested to-dos from emails, topics to catch up on, and Help Me Write with Google Drive/Gmail integration.
